What's the date, time, and address for the wedding?

The wedding will be on Saturday the third of September, 2022. The time the wedding will start is to be determined, but expect an all-day event that goes into the following morning! The address is: Château de la Tour du Puits, Le Puits, 73800 Coise-Saint-Jean-Pied-Gauthier, FRANCE

Where should I stay for the wedding?

You should plan on staying in the downtown of Chambery. Depending on your budget, there are several excellent options available and can be found with a simple search on booking.com or Air B&B. The hotel we are recommending is known as Hotel Des Prince. It's perfectly situated in the downtown of Chambery and where you can expect the majority of our guests to be staying. It's also across from the best pizza place on the planet 🍕

Where should I fly into?

You should ONLY fly into Lyon (LYS airport code). There are no direct flights to LYS from America, so you should expect to have at least one layover.

When should I fly in for the wedding?

Our recommendation is to try and land at least 1 or 2 days in advance. The wedding is on Saturday of Labor Day weekend (Sept 3rd), so flying out Thursday night and landing Friday morning/early afternoon should hopefully be possible. We’ll have some pre-wedding fun planned for the day before the wedding, on Friday, plus it’ll be nice for you to get a little jet lag out of your system and make some new friends before the big day! If your schedule permits, flying in earlier and exploring the area is highly recommended 😃

Will there be a ceremony?

Yes, the ceremony will be on-site at the venue. (There will be no change of location!)

I don’t have a passport / I'm not sure if I need to renew it / I don’t know where my passport is. What should I do?

Please know that due to Covid, the government wait times for passports have become significantly longer.

Do NOT WAIT to start the passport process. If you have any intentions of international travel, do it regardless if you are able to attend our wedding or not! If your passport expires within 6 months of your travel date, it is not going to be considered valid, you must renew it. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply.html

Processing times: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/processing-times.html

How will I get from the airport to the accommodations?

It’s a 1-hour drive from the airport to Chambéry. We will not be able to provide shuttle services due to the number of flights arriving at different dates/times but there are trains, buses, and taxis available to shuttle you to downtown Chambery.

How will I get to the wedding from downtown Chambery and vice versa?

There will be shuttle services provided to and from Chambery and the venue for the wedding.

How do Covid restrictions work in France?

As of writing this, there used to be a very strict widespread QR code system in place and a public mask mandate. Those restrictions and the use of the QR code system were lifted during the lead-up to the French presidential election. However, there is a chance they will be reinstated between now and our wedding. We will keep this page updated and email you with updates once you RSVP.

How much french will I need to know in order to have fun at this wedding?

Master the phrase ‘oui oui, omelette de fromage avec champagne’ with a little french flare and you’ll be golden.

Are there any uh… ‘unique’ french traditions I should prepare myself for?

You’ll find out 😉 but if you want to enjoy some more of the more popular french sing-along songs, check out popular french songs on the music streaming service you utilize so you can familiarize yourself with a few of them and sing along!

If I RSVP as yes, and then something happens that prevents me from coming, will that be ok?

Of course! Life is unpredictable and this is a big trip for our family and friends from America. If there’s a really good chance you can make it, please mark yourself as coming. If something comes up that stops you from being able to come, it's not a problem at all, other than we will miss you! ♡

What's the dress attire for the wedding?

This is a semi-formal wedding, AKA dress nice! Please be aware that large portions of the venue are accessible by grass only! If you'd like to wear heels, please bring an alternative pair of shoes so you can still walk around the various parts of the venue before settling in for the ceremony, dinner, and after party.

Should I bring my dancing shoes?

Hell yes!

Will there be special dining options?

Yes. If you have any food allergies please let us know via email (marine.laurent38@gmail.com) so we can plan accordingly. We also will accomodate any dietary restrictions such as vegetarian or vegan.

Are children welcome at your wedding?

Although we love your little ones, this is an adult-only affair.

Is there a gift registry?

We are asking that no gifts are provided for this wedding, take whatever budget you would have applied to a gift and apply it to the price of a plane ticket =) We are 100% serious in saying that your attendance is the ultimate gift.
